How I like to start my day

Wake up#1 [8:05am]: Wake up to discover my 80 pound dog on top of me on my bed. Apparently the door to my room wasn't 100% closed and he decided he needed to go outside and this was the best way to accomplish that. Need I mention that my parents and brother had left for work probably less than 15 mins before the incident and had been awake and downstairs for up to 2 hours before that? Could he not have gone out then!? Also discover at this point that I feel like I've been hit by a truck. Major swollen glands, stuffed nose, and general feeling of crap. Awesome.

Wake up #2 [9:29am]: My phone was ringing, and I discover my brother on the other end needing some pictures off the computer. Apparently my dad had downloaded them and then deleted them off the camera. Not aware was my brother who had brought the camera with him to work. So after about half an hour, a useless phonecall to my dad (his phone is here beside me), and 2 computers later, I found them hidden on an external harddrive I found lying beside computer #2. Add about another half hour of trying to email the files, only to discover my email had resized them and they arrived minute. Attempt number two led to the discovery that I would have to send them 2 files at a time, leading to the suggestion of me driving the hard drive accross town to him at work. By then the class he needed them for was over and we decided to just leave it for the day.

Missing out.

I'm so mad/frustrated/just plain bummed out.

I purposely didn't go to my big staff party because I knew it was the first night J was home and I wanted to hang out with him more then I wanted to go to the party. Then I talked to J today and he has a friend's birthday tonight and we might hang out 'later' but probably not. I was a little annoyed, but not mad at him about it. He didn't know about my party, and I didn't know it was his friend's birthday. It's what you get when there is no service where he's working.

I decided to go to a movie and not completely waste my night. My brother asked for a ride to his friend's place but I turned him down at first. I'm sick and tired of playing chauffeur for him. He never returns the favour. Then I felt guilty and changed my mind since I was heading up there anyways to go to a movie. However, by the time we picked up his entourage (that I didn't know about until we were in the car) and made it to their destination, my movie had already started.

So here I am at home. Doing nothing.

Guess who's pissed off

Yep. Me. So much for turning my day around.

Tonight I was supposed to hang out with J. I had been looking forward to it because our plans haven't worked out for the last couple of days and I really wanted to see him. He worked today, and I wasn't sure what time he was off, so I waited until around 7 to call him. No answer. I left him a message to call me. I tried calling him again an hour or so later. No answer.

Around 9 he called. He had been out at a friend's house for dinner and they were heading back to his place and he asked if I was coming. I told him no. He was surprised and asked me why not. I explained that I thought we were going to hang out. Just us. I didn't realize that by us hanging out, it meant that I was going to be invited to hang out with him and his friends. I don't mind hanging out with his friends. I like most of his friends. It's the fact that I'm an afterthought in his plans. "Oh right, I think I told my girlfriend I would hang out with her tonight. I better give her a call."

It drives me crazy when he calls me around 8 or 9 and tells me it was his first chance to get to a phone. If you haven't been near a phone, did you use smoke signals to get your friends over there? I feel so stupid when I show up halfway into their night, because he didn't feel the need to pick up his phone/call me until later.

He thought I was mad because he had dinner with his friend from out of town. That wasn't it at all. I just expect that when we make plans to hang out, that maybe I would be included in the plans. Foreign concept? And how hard would it be to call me after work and say, "Hey, my buddy is here from out of town and I'm invited to dinner, so we'll have to hang out later."
That's fine. Have fun. Call me later.

Instead I'm left for hours wondering what the hell happened to him, and waiting for ... what? A night on my couch eating jellybeans. That's what.
