Year In Review

I saved this questionnaire to fill out and totally forgot where I got it from. But here it is!

1. What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before?
Is it sad that I cannot think of one single thing? Obviously on my list of New Years Resolutions for 2009!!

2. Did you keep your New Year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn’t make any last year, but a friend made one for me. It was to stay away from The Ex and not go back! It wasn’t really that hard considering I had no interest in him, and had just met J, but she made it anyways! I made one in the last question but maybe I’ll make a list.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My old dance teacher did, and a girl from that dance class is due to pop any day now. But nobody close to me, no. An old friend of mine is pregnant, but I don’t get to see her that often (lives in a different province).

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Fortunately, nobody did.

5. What places did you visit?
I went to Vancouver in February for a Reading Break trip, and twice in August (once for a wedding). I went to Edmonton twice. I went once in May for a Wedding, and again in September for my birthday. I was supposed to go to Mexico, but I guess it doesn’t count if I didn’t actually get to go!

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
Money. A lasting relationship. A tropical vacation

7. What day from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
My friend’s weddings for obvious reasons, a couple of days with J, and the day in November when Barack Obama was elected President.

8. What was your biggest achievement(s) of the year?
Saving enough money to pay a semester of school.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Failing to save enough money and pay off my credit card.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I slammed my finger in the door, badly bruising it. It is still growing out 5 months later. Happily, that is it except for the occasional cold.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
A new camera!

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
My friends, family on the most part.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Some of my friends and family members had their moments, my government’s behaviour, and my own on occasion.

14. Where did most of your money go?
What money? School, gas, dinners out, camera

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
My friend’s weddings, Mexico (while the trip was on), seeing Reba and Kelly in concert

Mercy - Duffy

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

b) thinner or fatter? About the same, I think?

I got the Twilight series for Christmas, and those books are supposed to be good but I haven’t started them yet.

There is a bunch of people at my new job. They’re really great.

I have learned that you cannot control anything other then your own actions and reactions. Learning to accept that fact is for another year!

Birthday Weekend

I've had a busy weekend!

For our birthdays (which are side by side), my mom and I went to Edmonton and saw Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson in concert. Awesome. We were in the 4th row, and those two ladies can SIIIIIIIIING! It was my mom's first concert, so that was exciting. She was so cute singing along to all the Kelly songs she knows.

Tonight I finally met J's family. None of them are like I pictured. I had a good time, and wanted to steal their dog. Hopefully they liked me too! (I've always had the suspicion that the ex's dad didn't like me. I'm pretty sure he thought I was a moron, just by the way he acted around me.)

I work tomorrow. I haven't worked in a week so it kind of sucks. I'm not in the mood for it! I start later, which probably means I don't get off until later. Boo. I'd rather work early then late. Oh well. At least I still have a job. I won't for long, because they have to lay me off for the winter season.

Dogs and Drinking

It's been an interesting couple of days.

Sunday, I got home from work to find that my dog Mackenzie wasn't doing very well. He wasn't walking (seriously favoring one of his front legs), and when I went in to check on him he didn't even lift up his head or acknowledge me in any way. He couldn't even go outside by himself, we had to carry him. I was really worried about him.

On Monday, we brought him to the vet right when it opened. The vet wasn't actually going to be in for another hour so I sat by the phone waiting, and my parents went to work. I was in the mindset where we were going to have to put him down. It turns out he sprained his ankle and was in a lot of pain. Once he was given some pain killers he perked right up and was back to causing trouble. I can not even begin to explain to you how relieved I am. He's my baby. I'm so glad he's okay.

That afternoon, my brothers and I went golfing. We discovered there is one thing in this world that we do not excel at. And that is golfing. Good thing there was nobody behind us. It took us almost 3 hours to get through 5 holes. That's really really terrible! It was my brother G's birthday, so afterwards we met up with our parents at a Greek restaurant for dinner. There was so much food I nearly exploded, and had to take most of it home.

J happened to call while we were waiting for our food, but I couldn't really talk to him in the middle of the restaurant. I was bummed because I didn't know when I'd hear from him since he started working nights again. I got a message from him this morning, but haven't actually gotten to talk to him.

In big news, my friend is officially home from Afghanistan! He drove in last night. I invited him out for dinner tonight but he said he'd have to get back to me. A bunch of his army buddies want to meet him at the armories for drinks. Apparently it's a big deal or something that he made it home from war. *shrugs*
I'm kidding! Of course it's a big deal, but I want him to come get drunk with me! I think the decision is obvious. Which would you rather: Going out with a hot chick like me, or drinking with a bunch of dudes?

I know. I'd pick the second one too. ;)

Time sure is flying...

I'm tired.

I've been having dreams lately where I have been running around performing tasks or playing superhero, and I having been waking up exhausted. I'm always way more tired when I wake up, then when I go to bed. I must flail in my sleep and tucker myself out.

J was here last week, but left on Tuesday back for Alberta. I worked most of the time he was here, but we did get to spend all of Sunday together. I've decided I really don't like having him away for 2 weeks at a time. I know I'm lucky he isn't gone for months at a time, but I'm still going to grumble about it.

It's my brother's birthday on Monday. I think we're going to go golfing (the other brothers might join us) before we go out with our parents for dinner. We haven't had a big family dinner in awhile. Should be fun. It also means my birthday is right around the corner! Yay!

In exciting news my friend is due home from Afghanistan on Tuesday! I believe he's already in Canada, but he has to drive him car home across the country. I'm going to be so happy to see him. I've promised him a night of drinking, and drink we will! After I scream his head off and give him a big fat hug of course!
